Freedom Armored Up!
Following up from my previous post, we now have the MG Freedom Gundam Extra Finish version with its armor on.
I've always loved how metallic kits look like, and the MG Freedom is no exception. As has become my norm these days, even with metallic kits, I still paint the inner frame with Gunmetal to make it look a bit more mechanical and to contrast the shine that the metallic-coated armor has.
In most pics I see on the 'net of metallic kits, including some promotional pics from Bandai themselves, they don't show the kit with panel lining and decals attached. It's a shame, really, since these look great on the MG Freedom.
Here, you can see the kneecap part of the freedom move up when you bend the knee - and you can see some gold piping there :)
This has been carried over to later Seed kits, including the MG Destiny's leg.
Pretty standard arms here. You can see a small part near the elbow. You can remove that to attach the peg from the shield if you want it to be mounted on the side of the arm instead of the elbow. This will sometimes make it easier for you to pose the arm with the shield.
I used Fluorescent Yellow for the eyes (although it looks a bit yellow-greenish, and Metallic Blue for the forehead and rear-head sensor.
Unlike the Destiny, I can still open the cockpit hatch of the Freedom. The Freedom's cockpit hatch is different from the usual Gundams. You slide it forward and you can see Kira inside. Well, not on this one. I don' like putting in the pilots until I've had time to paint them.
I also realized that I should have used the other "Eternal" decal on the right shoulder. The default one is a bit difficult to see since it's almost the same color as the armor.
After the Freedom's photoshoot, I tried attaching the backpack, which then made the Freedom fell and one of the antennas broke. Luckily, it was easy to fix with a bit of glue ^^;;;
Next up, the Freedom's weapons!
