Alienware m15x

I was afraid that my previous laptop, an Acer 8920g, didn't have the power to run Starcraft 2 at 1080p with decent settings, so I decided to get a new laptop. So along with the game, I got an Alienware m15x, which I purchased as part of my August loot.

I didn't want another monster-sized laptop, so I went for a 15.6" laptop. And I chose this over an Asus G73 as I was hearing some issues with that laptop (most of it resolved by now.

August 2010 Loot

After my previous sad post about lost toys, it's time to find out what stuff I got from the previous month :)

Lots of cardboard boxes greeted me when I got back from my Philippine vacation. These were from all over the world - Singapore, Japan, and the US.
So let's open them up and see what arrived!

Ondoy Toy Victims

It's almost been a year since the super typhoon known as Ondoy hit the Philippines. Due to the typhoon (and other stuff that I won't try to explain here), most of Metro Manila was submerged in floods. The place I lived in was one of the heavily affected ones, with water going above the waist in the whole area.

This is the 2nd time I've been to the Philippines after Ondoy, and the 1st time I had enough time to go through my toy collection and see the extent of the damage that Ondoy had done.

Qubeley Inner Frame

Following up on my previous post, here's the inner frame of the MG Qubeley.

I was actually surprised at how fast I was able to build it, but I'm not complaining. I guess I have more free time than I'm used to :)

That Lady's MS

MG Qubeley was given to me as a gift by my friends for my birtday. They gave me the recently released MkII, painted in purple colors. As I didn't really like dark-colored mechs, and I preferred having Haman Karn's MS in my collection, I decided to paint it in her color scheme.

I started on MG Qubeley right after I completed Destiny and Freedom. But being busy with work, I wasn't able to continue working on it until a couple of weeks ago. Finally, I've completed painting it up. Just need to complete assembly and detailing panel lines), then I'll have it completed so I can move to my next project.

I've decided to start work on the MG Strike Freedom right away after my current project (which I'll be posting here soon).
The K-On figs stay in their boxes until I get the whole band :>

Addicted to... T-Shirts

I collect a lot of stuff: toys, anime, comics, movies (DVD's and now, Blurays)... even shoes (I collect Nike Air Zoom Kobes). But never did I imagine that I'll be collecting shirts. Nike Kobe or Adidas LA Lakers shirts, yes. But not a brand that I only heard of last year when it first opened in Tampines here in Singapore.

And now I have bought 10 12. But these shirts are pretty comfortable. They fit me well, and they have these nice thematic designs...

The World is Hers

To be honest, I didn't know who Miku Hatsune was until the market started getting flooded with all these merchandise of her. What amazes me is that she didn't start out from any manga, anime series, or video games - the usual channels that companies usually base their merchandise on. No, Miku comes from a software (some sites, like Wikipedia, don't classify it as a game) called Vocaloid that people can use to synthesize singing by typing in the lyrics.

The Eco-Friendly Gunpla

Gunpla, as we all should know, is short for Gundam Plastic Model. Meaning, it's made out of plastic - like most toys - and not very safe for our environment since they're non-biodegradable. It's thoughts like these that make me feel bad for being a toy collector >_<

Bandai, being the awesome toy company that they are, decided to make kits made out of 100% recycled plastic - like the unused plastic from runners, or excess plastic from production - to appease our conscience. The result is what they call Ecopla.
