I've been playing too much Starcraft 2 and L4D2 lately. Too much, that I haven't had time to finish my remaining kits: the MG Strike Freedom and the MG RX78-2 v2.0.
After the MG Freedom, I think it's only right that the next kit I build is the MS that replaced it: the golden-framed Strike Freedom.
I've completed the frame and the white armor parts so here are pics on my progress so far.

Alienware m15x
I was afraid that my previous laptop, an Acer 8920g, didn't have the power to run Starcraft 2 at 1080p with decent settings, so I decided to get a new laptop. So along with the game, I got an Alienware m15x, which I purchased as part of my August loot.
I didn't want another monster-sized laptop, so I went for a 15.6" laptop. And I chose this over an Asus G73 as I was hearing some issues with that laptop (most of it resolved by now.

August 2010 Loot
After my previous sad post about lost toys, it's time to find out what stuff I got from the previous month :)
Lots of cardboard boxes greeted me when I got back from my Philippine vacation. These were from all over the world - Singapore, Japan, and the US.
So let's open them up and see what arrived!

Ondoy Toy Victims
It's almost been a year since the super typhoon known as Ondoy hit the Philippines. Due to the typhoon (and other stuff that I won't try to explain here), most of Metro Manila was submerged in floods. The place I lived in was one of the heavily affected ones, with water going above the waist in the whole area.
This is the 2nd time I've been to the Philippines after Ondoy, and the 1st time I had enough time to go through my toy collection and see the extent of the damage that Ondoy had done.

Qubeley Inner Frame
Following up on my previous post, here's the inner frame of the MG Qubeley.
I was actually surprised at how fast I was able to build it, but I'm not complaining. I guess I have more free time than I'm used to :)

That Lady's MS
MG Qubeley was given to me as a gift by my friends for my birtday. They gave me the recently released MkII, painted in purple colors. As I didn't really like dark-colored mechs, and I preferred having Haman Karn's MS in my collection, I decided to paint it in her color scheme.
I started on MG Qubeley right after I completed Destiny and Freedom. But being busy with work, I wasn't able to continue working on it until a couple of weeks ago. Finally, I've completed painting it up. Just need to complete assembly and detailing panel lines), then I'll have it completed so I can move to my next project.

Addicted to... T-Shirts
I collect a lot of stuff: toys, anime, comics, movies (DVD's and now, Blurays)... even shoes (I collect Nike Air Zoom Kobes). But never did I imagine that I'll be collecting shirts. Nike Kobe or Adidas LA Lakers shirts, yes. But not a brand that I only heard of last year when it first opened in Tampines here in Singapore.
And now I have bought 10 12. But these shirts are pretty comfortable. They fit me well, and they have these nice thematic designs...

The World is Hers
To be honest, I didn't know who Miku Hatsune was until the market started getting flooded with all these merchandise of her. What amazes me is that she didn't start out from any manga, anime series, or video games - the usual channels that companies usually base their merchandise on. No, Miku comes from a software (some sites, like Wikipedia, don't classify it as a game) called Vocaloid that people can use to synthesize singing by typing in the lyrics.

The Eco-Friendly Gunpla
Gunpla, as we all should know, is short for Gundam Plastic Model. Meaning, it's made out of plastic - like most toys - and not very safe for our environment since they're non-biodegradable. It's thoughts like these that make me feel bad for being a toy collector >_<
Bandai, being the awesome toy company that they are, decided to make kits made out of 100% recycled plastic - like the unused plastic from runners, or excess plastic from production - to appease our conscience. The result is what they call Ecopla.

Weapons of Freedom
After putting on Freedom's armor comes a short post on the weapons.
Compared to the Destiny's assortment of weapons and accessories, Freedom comes with just a few: rifle, shield, wings, hip railguns, beam sabers and shield. No wonder Kira needed an upgrade to match Destiny.

Freedom's Frame
Ok, the Destiny doesn't fit in my light box. So I'm trying to figure out how to take pictures of it properly. So for now, let's move to the other MG that I was working on: the MG Freedom.
Again, as you can see by the shoulders, this is one of the special editions - the Extra Finish Ver (or Metallic Version, if you want to call it that).
I can't seem to resist these special edition version of these kits.

Japan Trip is a No-Go :(
Well, that was a short-lived high. As I mentioned here, I thought we were finally going to Japan after waiting for 3 long years.
Unfortunately, it's not meant to be as the travel agency has informed me that there is not enough people to form the group for the tour, so we had to cancel the booking.
Oh well... I'm sure we'll be able to go one of these days...

Weapons of Destiny
The MG Destiny comes with its trademark weapons: the beam rifle, foldable (or should I say sliding?) shield, the anti-ship sword, the beam launcher, and 2 combo beam boomerangs/sabers. If you add in the mini-cannons on its palms, the Destiny Gundam is one of the more heavily-armed Gundams in the Cosmic Era (Seed) universe.

Destiny's Frame
Finally have some updates on one of the Gunplas that I've been working on.
Here is the inner frame of the Destiny Gundam after I've finished painting and detailing it. I did more detailing that I expected, but if you notice the shoulders, you'll see that this is the clear version of the MG Destiny Gundam that I got during Gundam Fiesta here in Singapore. So hopefully, all this work didn't go to waste :)

Japan Trip is a Go!
Went to NATAS Travel Fair this weekend and booked a Nagoya tour for us on 1st April.
We initially wanted Hokkaido/Tokyo but it seems that April is too early to see the flower farms. But we might still go to Tokyo after Nagoya and head home from there.
The wife's now looking at Japanese pearls and exclusive Burberry bags..
And here I thought that if it's a Japan trip, I'd be buying more stuff (toys) ^^;;;

Reach the Kill Screen!
The post's title is reference from Chuck's Season 2 episode, Tom Sawyer.
It's a nice surprise that Atari had launched a free-to-play web-based online multiplayer version of this classic game.
Game embedded after the jump.
Now to find my Rush cd...

Miku Miku Kagami
Scanning through my photobucket now to find some stuff I haven't posted here yet ^^;;;
Ah! Here's something from Lucky Star! It's Kagami cosplaying as Miku Hatsune, as seen in the Lucky Star OVA! She's usually called Miku Miku Kagami. I prefer calling her Kagamiku.
Kagami is my favorite girl from Lucky Star and... I had no idea who Miku Hatsune was when I watched the show, nor when I bought these figures. But if I was going to buy Kagami, it would be her cosplaying as Miku. It prevents me from wanting to buy the other figures in the series. I've enough figures lying around as it is T_T
Besides, Miku Hatsune's outfit is cool...

Bandai 1/60 VF-25S Messiah DX
The last Macross toy I bought was the 1/55 VF-1S Super Valkyrie by Bandai - years ago.
I've always liked the commander-type Valkyries from Macross and now we have the one from their latest series, Macross Frontier.
This is actually from the set that contains the armor parts. I just haven't had time to take pics of the armored Valkyrie yet.
I've decided to go with the toy version instead of the 1/72 model kits. Although more expensive, I got it at sale price, saving me S$50. Besides, this thing is bigger... and I don't have time to build any more model kits, aside from the Gunpla that I already have ^^;;;

1/8 Yoko Littner by Alter
Just waiting for the paint to dry on my MG's, so I thought I'd feature something else for a while...
I can't remember the last time I bought a scaled PVC figure, so I can only assume that this is the first one. I'll have to ask my brother back in the Philippines if I had any of these before.
Surprisingly, my wife sat down with me to watch the whole Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann series. To add to that, she's a huge Yoko fan. I guess she likes redheads since she also likes Shana.
I bought her a Revoltech figure before, but when I saw a preview of this figure, I know I just had to get it "for her" ;)

Starting work on new Gunplas
On to new gunplas to build for the new year. I started on these 2 kits a while back and they've been taking much of my free time. Guess it's the last time I'll work on 2 kits simultanneously >_<

Happy Valentine's Day and Gong Xi Fa Cai!
Happy Valentine's Day Everyone!
And for the Chinese community, Gong Xi Fa Cai!
Double celebration for today! To celebrate, I'm setting up a new template that I got from www.blogspottemplate.com (although I might still switch to other templates for a while) for this seldom-used blog and preparing myself to post here more regularly :)
Here's to a prospeous Year of the Tiger!
